What Are Seasonal Allergies?
During certain times of the year, individuals experience symptoms of allergies which consist of sneezing, coughing, itching and running nose/eyes. These develop when the bodies’ immune system becomes sensitized and overreacts. People without the condition of allergies will not experience symptoms but those that do react will experience allergy symptoms.
Symptoms of Allergies:
- Nasal Congestion or Stuffy nose
- Sneezing or coughing
- Itchy nose and eyes
- Runny Nose
- Swollen Eyes
How do we treat Seasonal Allergies at CNS?
We choose to avoid the aggravation that sometimes occurs when dealing with your allergies by simply administering acupuncture to the patient. During the first visit, most patients lay on the exam table with their needles in place and some automatically feel a sense of relief. Patients are asked to score nose stuffiness on a zero to ten scare, zero meaning no stuffiness and a ten being the worst possible stuffiness for the patient. A Score can determine the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment by tracking the number of sneezers per day and the number of itching episodes around their eyes. After an initial series of treatment, patients come on for further treatments on an as needed basis. Most patients end up significantly reducing or eliminating their dependence on allergy medications.
